Footprints of Faith in America’s History
Lesley Gist is committed to the belief that social change is brought about exalting the
work of the faithful. Led by people of faith, The Underground Railroad became America’s
first successful non-violent Civil Rights movement. Lesley inspires her audience by
looking at the Underground Railroad and finding beauty in the midst of a painful era.
The life of William Still a black abolitionist and millionaire exemplifies the lives of the faithful workers on the Underground Railroad. These people of faith left the safety and security of their homes to go underground to help relieve and free the slaves.

These characteristics are traits that are consistent in our leaders throughout history, from the biblical era to the present day. By depicting this history. Rich in generous human interaction, Gist shines a hopeful light on the strength of the human spirit.

Her talk generally runs for one hour and includes a question and answer session and a display of vintage books and literature on the subject of the Still family and the Underground Railroad.
